A new chapter at BFRC for Richard Sellman

A new chapter at BFRC for Richard Sellman

The BFRC would like to announce that Richard Sellman will be leaving his role as Managing Director of the business, but is pleased to confirm day to day operations with Richard at the helm will remain unchanged for the foreseeable future.

With over 30 years’ experience in the IGU and Window Industry, Richard joined the BFRC in 2023, having previously worked for a number of multi-national organisations as well as smaller UK based enterprises. His time at BFRC has seen the organisation reinvent itself, with the set up a state-of-the-art laboratory in Telford, with amazing equipment and capabilities, secure new accreditations, introduce new services and modernise the approach, positioning BFRC as a true advocate of raising the standards across the industry.

Tim Simmons, CEO of the GGF Group comments: “During his time with BFRC, Richard has made a significant contribution to the business and to the wider industry. His technical knowledge, experience and relationships across the sector have been extremely valuable, and I would like to thank him personally for the contribution he has made.

“Although Richard will be leaving his current role, I am pleased that this will not mark the end of his relationship with BFRC or the GGF Group. From October, Richard will continue to work with us under a consultancy arrangement, providing specialist support, sharing his considerable knowledge and experience, and helping us with the next stage of BFRC’s development.

“This arrangement gives us the opportunity to retain Richard’s expertise while also ensuring a smooth transition as we continue to strengthen the BFRC team and take the business forward.

“I know Richard has built strong relationships across the Group and the wider industry, and I am sure you will join me in thanking him for everything he has contributed in during his employed role and wishing him well as he moves into this next chapter.

“Most importantly, I am delighted that we will continue working with Richard and benefiting from his experience over the months ahead.”

Richard concludes: “The BFRC has a long history of raising standards in the industry, being the first to deliver measurable and understandable performance ratings for windows and remaining the most trusted ratings provider in the UK. We’ve achieved a great deal in recent years and although I am stepping away from the role of MD, I’m excited to continue to build on that trajectory in the coming months in my consultancy role.

“Despite my change of role, the BFRC is still very much committed to providing a customer centric testing and certification proposition. We have a shared objective to continue to provide a great service and support BFRC members beyond expectation, and we will continue to pull in the same direction to ensure that happens.”
